Scoring a Try
Learn How to Play Rugby and Master the Basic Skills of Rugby that Will Have You Go from Rugby Zero to Rugby Hero in as little as 8 weeksAny rugby player can tell you how to score a try. You just apply pressure to the ball on the ground while over or on the opposition’s goal line. Sounds simple, but many times triees are lost because players have not grounded the ball correctly.
I first recommend you watch USA rugby and USA College rugby games to better learn the art of scoring tries.
Body Position
You should be low and ready to drive with your legs in case the line is well guarded
Reaching Out
You may also reach out with your arms and quickly apply pressure to the ball (if you have a firm grip on it), if you are near the touch line, you must leave your feet to avoid touching the line.
Pushover Try
Usually if your team has a stronger scrum pack than the opposing team, push the other team through the try line, the number 8 man grabs the ball and scores.
Penalty Try
If there is a penalty by the opposing team, and there would have been a try not for the penalty, the referee can award a penalty try.
